Avascular Necrosis

By Diane Olson, United States, January 17, 2015

I was diagnosed Nov 5 2013, with Avascular Necrosis. Total knee replacement at the at of 43. This disease cuts off the blood flow to the bones witch in turn slowing start to dye. I have other joints such as my other knee and possible wrists, shoulder and hips. This is a pain ful disabiling disease that doctors do not know much about and there is not even a medical code for it. 10 -20 thousand people a year develope this, most do to long term steroid use. (Me 23 yrs chronic exema) we need awareness and learn to help others behind me and others. I have contacted several in regards to this, also found Avascular support on face book. I would love to have a local support group, but I have not ran across anyone here in Oregon withis disease. (Thank goodness) thank you for your time and listening, I pray I can get this out there...we need a medical code for it. SSD doesn't even have in in their book to go off of.....ugh...
