I was born 27 weeks Premature ( 3 weeks early) I had hyaline membrane disease (underdeveloped lungs) . they were matured by a research Drug only used in Rats.
the meningitis was gone in 3 days ! … but it created scaring in my ventricles, and cerebral spinal fluid built up in my brain, causing my head to enlarge and destroy brain matter and tissue. this condition is called Hydrocephalus. a Dr. at Egelston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta. Put in a Shunt to drain the fluid from my head to my stomach….. I would have multiple surgeries to replace the shunt as it malfunctions over time due to body growth. my very last shunt Revision was in 1999 when both ( I am double shunted, due to a cyst in my 3rd ventricle) were blocked and disconnected….. I had that surgery done. now, the csf flows a different way now because the shunt has not worked In sometime. because I think the shunt just did it’s job and got clogged to were it could not pass any fluid. so, my brain created channels to drain the fluid itself to drain in to the bloodstream or circulatory system. since the shunt is in my heart. if my brain goes whacko, and builds csf up again, it will drain back into the heart automatically….
