hypopituitarism

The story of Heather

I’m 30 years old and I have hypopituitarism (under active pituitary gland). I have to take several replacement medications for it. I am also visually impaired. I’m generally a very quiet person but get me on a subject about music and I could probably talk your ear off. It’s hard for me to eat foods that are hard/chewy. Certain textures and flavors can make me gag due to a gag reflex. Don’t like loud noises either. Growing up I had to receive a growth hormone shot every day until I was a teenager so that way I could grow up to be as tall as I am (5’3″). I heard my mom say that I was a case study University of Chicago. There needs to be more awareness for my condition because it is rare.
