The story of Katie

8 months ago, we received Dad’s diagnosis of CBD, via a postal letter. I knew what this meant. My Mum and 3 siblings did not, and were not prepared to find out. So I dealt with it alone. I do all I can to help- sorting physio/OT/DN/GP, attending appointments, supporting Mum.
Dad has deteriorated quickly. I feared him losing mobility, so decided to get married, whilst Dad could still walk me down the aisle. We did it secretly with just our parents and children. 1 sibling now does not communicate with me, because of this.
I’m determined for Dad to remain cared for at home. But I work FT and have my own family and my Mum can only manage for so long.
The future is so uncertain and sad.
