The story of Avielle

In September I took vacation from work, but while on vacation I was sick. I went to the dr and they said I tested positive for mono. I had such a bad headache and muscle soreness. I continued to talk with my doctor and explain that all the medications for pain was not providing relief. My husband took me to the Er. The Er did a contrast ct scan and stated the results were fine. I had mono and phenomena. They gave me morphine and other pain meds that lasted 20 minutes of relief. I was discharged. My husband went to the store to get my medication when the police knocked at my door. After all the meds I thought I was dreaming. I answered the door and they said I had to report to a different hospital because I had a dissected artery in my head. They took me to Johnston Willis Hospital and a team was in stand by! Talk about scared. My husband met me at the hospital and we both were taken by storm. They further examined me and stated I had Fmd. I was hospitalized for three weeks and then released to bed rest for three months. It’s scary because now, five months later I still experience symptoms that scare me. Luckily I have a fab team at the hospital at uva that has taken my case and fear and make me a normal person. Thanks for listening to my story!
