About VERENIGING SAMENWERKENDE OUDER EN PATIËNTENORGANISATIES (VSOP)
The Dutch Genetic Alliance VSOP (www.vsop.nl) is an umbrella organisation of about 70 national, disease-linked, parent and patient organisations, most of them concerned with genetic and/or congenital disorders. The VSOP ‘s mission is to optimise the implications of research in the field of genetics, medical biotechnology and life sciences for health and well-being. Based on the patient perspective, the VSOP (through EGAN www.egan.eu) deals with the ethical, legal, educational, societal and international aspects of community genetics, medical biotechnology and rare disorders and national and European healthcare policies. These include genetic testing; preconception, prenatal and neonatal care; paediatric and orphan drugs; pharmacogenetics; nutrigenomics; innovative advanced biomedical therapies.
