About Office for Rare Conditions

Based at the Royal Hospital for Children & the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow, the Office for Rare Conditions aims to improve the quality of life for children and adults living with a rare condition.

Our objectives are:

– to increase awareness of rare conditions amongst health care staff looking after patients who attend the Royal Hospital for Children and Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, Glasgow.

– to enhance the support available to children and their families/carers.

– to promote standards of clinical care for affected children and adults.

– to increase the participation of people with rare conditions in multi-centre research.

Working with health care professionals in Glasgow, we assist clinical services to provide information events for patients and families, help to develop a strong network of patient support organisations for people living with rare conditions and provide information on rare condition research and clinical trials.
