Description
In 2021, GLI successfully launched the caregiver summit and the A3 symposium that allowed patients, families, and caregivers to discuss their experiences and equipped them with the tools necessary to become advocates in the community. Rare Liver Disease Month will build off of these previous successes to create a formal and moderated session in a roundtable format for patients, providers, and caregivers to discuss inadequacies within healthcare, their experiences, and their work in changing these inadequacies. Through the roundtable, GLI will empower each group to speak out about their experiences and create a safe sense of community for those who might feel voiceless. Ultimately, this formal roundtable will become a driving force for long-term changes in health outcomes, practice guidelines, care coordination, advocacy efforts, and patient data.
