As China has a large population, the patients with rare diseases in China are not rare. Chinese government and passionate individuals who span different sectors of interest actively promote rare disease clinical research, improve the standardized diagnosis and treatment system of rare diseases, and develop pharmaceutical industries in a healthy manner.

China Alliance for Rare Diseases (CHARD) aims to facilitate the development of “Healthy China” by sticking to the development concept focusing on people’s health and giving full play to the medical institutions, universities, scientific research institutes, enterprises and other organizations with the goal of exploring a patient-oriented solution to prevention, treatment, and development of social security system of rare diseases with Chinese characteristics.

To mark the International Rare Disease Day in 2023, CHARD will jointly organize a series of activities to promote the awareness of the public and the government on rare diseases and patients with rare diseases, and to facilitate the development of diagnosis, treatment and social security from February 25th to March 3rd, 2023, with the Office of the National Collaboration Network for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Rare Diseases and a number of hospitals. The theme is Life Illuminated, People First with a focus of capacity building for doctors from remote areas and caring for the patients from those area as well. These activities include seminars on latest policies and academic progress on rare diseases, the release of reports on new findings,and MDT, etc., carried out online or offline.
