The 4th edition is organised under the theme From cell to systems: the teaching of Rare Diseases”. The celebration of 800 years of science, future, and freedom to celebrate the 800th anniversary of the official foundation of the Studium Patavinum, offering a unique opportunity to appreciate the immense scientific, cultural and artistic heritage of it.

Our University is one of the most ancient Universities in the world, the place “where science began in the 16thcentury in medicine and astronomy” quoting Stephen Hawking, and where Galileo Galilei spent “the best 18 years of his all life” after he was assigned the prestigious nomination of Professor of Mathematics in 1592, and where Elena Lucrezia Cornaro Piscopia, the first woman in the world to receive an academic degree from a University, in 1678 was appointed as “Magistra et Doctrix ” in Philosophy.

Moreover, the Padova University Hospital is one of the most important health care providers in Italy and Europe for the management of rare diseases patients. Different services and clinical wards, following a multidisciplinary approach as formally defined by the National and Regional Law, make the Rare Diseases Centres of expertise within the Hospital
