The story of Ella
My name is Ella, I’m 14 years old and I have Legg-Calve-Perthes disease. It’s a hip disease where the femoral head doesn’t get enough blood flow so the bone starts to die off/flatten. I was diagnosed with it about 8 months ago now and currently my femoral head is almost completely flattened. I’ve had one surgery so far, and once my bone has stopped flattening and has grown back it won’t be in a round shape anymore so they will have to reshape it. Even after they reshape it my hip will be very fragile and I will most likely need a hip replacement at a very young age. I used to be a JO8 competitive gymnast and even though I stopped before i was diagnosed, I still love tumbling and I am hoping that someday I will be able to tumble again.
