my journey with idiopathic intracranial hypertension

The story of Nicola

In 2009 my world fell apart when my mum passed away then just two months later I was diagnosed with a rare brain condition called idiopathic intracranial hypertension. It is the build up of cerebral spinal fluid on the brain causing severe headaches. I’ve had 14 shunt operations and 38 lumbar punctures since it all began. Through support of my family and other sufferers I’ve got through it. I won’t let having a rare illness beat me.
