Life with IIH/PTC

The story of Laura

I have been struggling with “migraines” for almost 9 years. A few years back I noticed weird things happening with my vision. By the end of 2012 I had terrible peripheral vision and was in immense pain along with the pain was a chronic daily headache that no medication could dull. I went to a neurologist and she then sent me for an MRI and to an ophthalmologist who discovered my optic nerves in both eyes were extremely swollen, he referred me to another specialist and after an Lumbar puncture in Jan 2013 I was officially diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension. Which essentially means my body is producing excess spinal fluid and not absorbing it properly. I have good days and bad day but I am a survivor and I will not let my rare disease hamper my life!
