The story of Dariya

Hi I’m Dasha,
When I was 2 years old I was hospitalized with Kawasaki disease, a rare vascular condition, that was not treated on time due to numerous factors including medical negligence and racial discrimination.

This led to me developing HSP Nephritis with IGA which is an auto immune kidney condition characterized by leakage of blood and protein in the urine and reduced kidney function.

My local hospital did not have the facilities to cope with such a rare condition, so I was transferred to Leeds St James University teaching Hospital who I have been under the care of ever since.

Although my health is up and down still, if it were not for the amazing team of doctors back in 2006 who performed my biopsy and took over my care I would not be here today.
