Brendan’s Digeorge Journey

The story of Heather

Brendan was born 8/13/13. He weighed 6 pounds 13 oz at birth. He dropped down to 6 pounds 4 oz in the hospital. He couldn’t latch. From the get go he had feeding issues. A nurse closely looked at him and thought Brendan should be tested for Digeorge Syndrome. He was tested at the hospital. We were discharged to go home. And at 2 weeks of age we received his results. He had Digeorge Syndrome. I had no idea what that would mean for his future. Brendan has hydronephrosis, reflux, aspirates, hypotonia, gastroparesis, FTT, low T cells, 2 uvulas, developmental delay…And today on Rare Disease Day he’s having a G Tube placement and fundoplication.
