The story of Casey

My name is Casey I’m 37 and a single mom of an amazing 9yo boy. I had 3 Pulmonary embolisms, then was diagnosed with factor v Leiden a clotting disorder. I thought I was just coming down with pneumonia. Later after multiple infections and antibiotic treatments I was diagnosed with Common variable immune deficiency. I have a bard power port in my chest and receive immunoglobulin therapy monthly. When I first had the port put in I suffered another blood clot, in my jugular and went into hypovolemic shock. I also have bronchiectasis, and pseudomonas in my lungs . I will never be able to get rid of these . I have slowly had to learn to adapt to living and treatment plans . I use a SmartVest twice a day and multiple nebulizers. It gets scary especially with the pandemic and is hard for society to understand. I have. Been fighting for disability for over 5 years . I have good days and bad days. I’ve learned to try to stay positive and listen to my body, you are the best advocate for your health!
