Rare Disease Day in Panama
Patient associations in Panama joined Rare Disease Day in 2011 and have since used the occasion to mobilise the general public in marches, and to push for greater legislation for rare disease patients and orphan drugs. 2014 events included teaching in universities and hospitals about rare diseases, treatments and the needs of patients. In 2017 policy makers, journalists and those linked Health industry were invited to a lunch where they were given a talk on rare diseases and the important role that research had to play.
