Rare Disease Day in Mexico
Mexico first joined in Rare Disease Day celebrations in 2010. The awareness campaigns have been aimed at the general public, as well as at leaders in the rare disease community and has involved interviewing politicians and health professionals and holding information seminars at universities and hospitals. A highlight of 2017 was a half marathon in Guadalajara.
In 2018, for the first time the Mexican Federation of Rare Diseases broadcast a series of interviews with the highest health officials in Mexico, leaders of patient associations and executives from the health care industry to strengthen bridges between the different organisations working together to improve the care of patients. There were also conferences and awareness raising events in schools and universities.
