Rare Disease Day in Hungary
Patient organisations in Hungary have engaged in Rare Disease Day since its launch in 2008. Various events have aimed to use the day for advocacy purposes as well as for raising awareness amongst the general public. Events have included workshops, round-table discussions, letter-writing campaigns, art contests and consultations with government officials to discuss rare disease policies.
The 2018 programme of entertainment for those living with a rare disease and their family and friends was held in Budapest and similarly to 2017 included live music performances, arts and crafts and face painting for the #ShowYourRare campaign. The day was also marked with an art exhibition and various seminars and round table discussions. Rare Disease Day 2018 saw an increased focus on more local events.
