Rare Disease Day in Guatemala
Guatemala first joined Rare Disease Day celebrations in 2012. Since then, the country has held gala dinners, marches, concerts, presentations, festivals and parades. More and more events are organised each year by more than 12 patient organisations which have formed an alliance in the greater name of rare diseases. In 2017, Rare Disease Day was supported by the Guatemalan Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and Ministry for Employment.
Rare Disease Day 2019 was marked by an awareness-raising campaign throughout the month with a closing conference on inclusion for people with rare diseases for health care professionals, students of medicine and people living with a rare disease and their families.
