Spain

Spain has been involved in Rare Disease Day since 2008. In previous years Spain has celebrated Rare Disease Day in a variety of ways from concerts in Zaragoza and Madrid to conferences near Valencia. Previous years have included seminars focusing on research at an international level and screening of documentaries illustrating the difficulties people living with a rare disease may experience on a daily basis.

In Spain, Rare Disease Day 2020 was widely celebrated. There were Open Door Days, educational table pop-ups, conferences & symposia, fun runs and art events, such as the ‘painted hands’ photo contest. In addition a large number of buildings across the country were lit up in rare disease day colours giving visibility to the campaign and to help raise awareness.
