Rare Disease Day in Denmark
Organisations in Denmark have participated in Rare Disease Day since 2008, with large-scale celebrations in 2008, 2012 and 2016. In 2016, the Danish Alliance Rare Diseases Denmark arranged a Rare Race and a Rare March in the biggest cities in Denmark. The Rare Prize was awarded to two individuals for their outstanding contributions to the rare disease community in Denmark. In addition, a rare exhibition was presented outside the Danish Parliament on Rare Disease Day.
For Rare Disease Day 2017, Rare Diseases Denmark organised a fundraising event in Aarhus, the second largest city in Denmark. People living with a rare disease gathered with family and friends to play board games and spend an enjoyable afternoon raising funds for the national alliance.
