Rare Disease Day in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Bosnia and Herzegovina have participated in Rare Disease Day for ten years now, having started in 2008. Events have ranged from television debates and public marches to awareness programmes in schools. There has also been a collection of toys and school supplies for children living with a rare disease, emphasising the importance of human contact.
2017 saw a campaign to collect messages of hope through social media, which were then displayed on a Tree of Good Hope in the public Children’s Square in Sarajevo. In 2019 the experiences of people with rare diseases were shown through videos and photos and medical schools promoted elective courses to students on rare diseases.
