Rare Disease Day in Argentina
Argentina’s very first Rare Disease Day was in 2009. Since then, participants have been working with the media and patient organisations to increase awareness among the general public about rare diseases.
For Rare Disease Day 2017, patient organisations and people living with rare diseases gathered in front of the president’s executive mansion in Buenos Aires to raise awareness of rare diseases and the need for a national rare disease plan in Argentina. They watched a young rare disease patient take part in the daily flag-lowering ceremony as a representative of the 3.2 million Argentinians living with rare diseases.
