Oman first took part in Rare Disease Day celebrations in 2014. Since then, the Genetics and Developmental Medicine Clinic has organised an annual awareness day in Markaz Al-Bahja, complete with activities for both children and adults and prizes.

For 2020, a Rare Disease Awareness Day was held in Muscat Mall and provided educational activities for families, a poster display as well as the opportunity to speak to experts in the field.
