About Muscular Dystrophy Pakistan
Rare Disease Day by Muscular Dystrophy Pakistan
Rare Disease Day, observed annually on 28 February, is an international awareness campaign dedicated to raising public understanding and support for individuals living with rare diseases.
Muscular Dystrophy Pakistan proudly joins this global movement each year by organizing local awareness events, social media campaigns, and community engagements to shine a spotlight on the challenges faced by people living with rare neuromuscular disorders—especially Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy (LGMD) and other forms of muscular dystrophy.
Through this observance, we aim to:
• Promote awareness among policymakers, healthcare professionals, and the general public.
• Advocate for improved diagnosis, care, and inclusion for individuals with rare conditions in Pakistan.
• Connect affected families and create a stronger sense of community and solidarity.
Our events typically include:
• Online seminars and patient stories
• Distribution of educational materials
• Media outreach and visibility campaigns
• Engagement with international rare disease networks
Rare Disease Day serves as a reminder that, while rare diseases may affect a small number of people individually, together they impact millions—and their voices matter.
