Urgent Help for Rare Disease Patients during 2020 Coronavirus Outbreak
24 February 2020 - 29 February 2020
91 Oakmere St. Boston MA 02132, Boston, USA
Hosted by BRC
For International Rare Disease Day 2020, Boston Rare Connections (BRC) invites everyone to join us in supporting rare disease patients currently affected by the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in China.
The COVID-19 outbreaks have affected a total 77,794 people and resulted in more 2,359 deaths since its onset, with over 98% of all cases happening in China. With the increasing amount of restrictions to travel within China and worldwide, a large number of patients with rare diseases across China are now at immediate risk of losing access to important life-sustaining drugs and medical supplies. The Chinese Organization for Rare Disorders (CORD) has released an urgent request for help from over 400 rare disease patients in China, but their reach is limited to their local area. We at Boston Rare Connections are working to amplify CORD’s request for assistance on an international scale for Rare Disease Day 2020, in order to help them raise money and acquire resources for rare disease patients affected by the Coronavirus crisis.
