1901 First Avenue, NY NY 10029, New York City, USA
Hosted by NYC Health + Hospitals/Metropolitan
The division of genetics at NYC Health + Hospitals (Metropolitan Hospital Center) is proudly hosting our fourth annual Rare Disease Day event on February 27, 2020.
The primary objectives of this event are to raise awareness of rare disease amongst hospital medical staff, health care providers, and policy makers.
We will provide an opportunity for medical staff and faculty to learn about the newest advances in rare diseases, including diagnostic technologies as well as gene therapies during the early part of the program. We will also have an art exhibit and display booths as an opportunity for medical staff to meet, interview, and learn about patients with rare diseases and their disorders.
The program schedule will be as follows:
11:00am – 1:00pm, Main Lobby:
- Table displays regarding new resources and treatments of genetic diseases, as well as patient advocacy organizations.
- Poster displays of "You Are Extraordinary/Ustedes Son Extraordinarios" portraits featuring Metropolitan patients with rare diseases. Photographed by Rick Guidotti of Positive Exposure.
12:00pm- 1:00pm, 1B35: Hospital-wide grand rounds, "Rare But No Longer a Mystery" from leaders in the field, Rick Guidotti of Positive Exposure, and a patient advocate.
3:00pm – 5:00pm: Entertainment and celebration for patients with rare diseases, family members, and friends.
