Rare Disease Day
28 February 2019
1901 1st Avenue, NY, NY 10029, New York City, United States
Hosted by New York City Health & hospitals/Metropolitan
The primary objective of our all-day event at Metropolitan Hospital this year is to raise awareness of rare diseases amongst hospital medical staff, health care providers, students and policy makers in addition to celebrating the day with patients and their families.
In the didactic portion of program we will focus on educating attendees on the implication of genetic diagnosis and availability of the newest treatments in this field. Additionally, hearing from representatives of NORD and patient-families with rare diseases about their experiences is planned.
The program schedule will be as follows:
11:00am – 2:00pm: Educational lectures and presentations for medical staff and faculty, case presentations, and presentations regarding new resources and treatments of genetic diseases
2:00 pm – 3:00pm: An art exhibition from “Beyond the Diagnosis” depicting portraits of patients with rare diseases will be available for viewing.
3:00pm – 5:00pm: Entertainment and celebration for patients with rare diseases, family members, and friends.
We look forward to seeing everyone on February 28th!
