February 28th is I N T E R N A T I O N A L Rare Disease Day!
We believe that nobody should have to suffer a hemorrhage from a cavernous angioma in the brain or spinal cord and that’s why we want to raise some EXTRA AWARENESS for Rare Disease Day this year! Bid on amazing pieces of art in our virtual gallery (on Facebook) and style up your home while contributing to a great cause!
On February 26th, we will reveal the artwork (within a photo album) on our page: https://www.facebook.com/ArtforAngiomaAlliance/ and the bidding will happen in the comments section of each picture.
Many of our artists are affected by cavernous angioma, plus we get help from amazing artist friends! Raised funds will go directly to Angioma Alliance: http://www.angiomaalliance.org/. Angioma Alliance is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization with the mission to inform, support, and empower individuals affected by cavernous angioma and drive research for better treatments and a cure. Current treatments in development can be found here: http://angioma.org/pages.aspx?content=474&id=391
Rare Disease Day takes place on the last day of February each year. It is estimated that 350 million people worldwide suffer from rare diseases. If all of the people with rare diseases lived in one country, it would be the world’s 3rd most populous country. The main objective of Rare Disease Day is to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives.
