Gynecologic Cancer Social Media Community - #gyncsm Twitter Chat 08 February 2017 Twitter
Hosted by #gyncsm Community

Most gynecologic cancers are classified as rare diseases. Join us for this virtual event on Twitter February 8th at 9:00pm Eastern Standard Time where passionate patients, survivors, loved ones, patient advocates and healthcare professionals will gather to discuss cancers affecting women.

The gynecologic cancer community on social media (#GynCSM = Gyn Cancer Social Media) chats are held on 2nd Wednesdays at 9pmET. Drs. Shannon Westin (@ShannonWestin), Merry-Jennifer Markham (@DrMarkham), Rick Boulay (@journeycancer), and Anne Becker-Shutte (@DrBeckerSchutte) are the community’s healthcare moderators. Participants site the benefits as meeting others, sharing support and tips, interacting with professionals, learning of new resources, and increased confidence in advocating for themselves and others.

We’ve discussed a variety of topics relevant to gynecologic cancer survivors on our chats such as clinical trials, genetics, personalized medicine, fertility and sexuality, as well as advocacy. Each month we prepare 4-5 questions to guide the hour-long online discussion. At the conclusion of each chat, we post the topic questions, chat transcript and links to the resources shared on the #GynCSM blog www.gyncsm.blogspot.com. Tips on Twitter, social media considerations, and how to join the chats are also available on our blog. For those seeking a less public conversation, we have a #gyncsm group on the Smart Patients platform.

Follow @gyncsm on Twitter and we hope to "see" you online,
