On February 28 in the Rooms Hotel Tbilisi the press conference dedicated to the Rare Disease Day has been held. The main organizer of this meeting was the Georgian Foundation for Genetic and Rare Diseases (GeRaD). This event was attended by representatives of 14 national organizations working in the field of rare diseases, as well as healthcare decision makers (MOH, Parliament, NCDC, Tbilisi City Hall). Here, it is especially necessary to note 2 SMA patients organizations, whose treatment has been funded by the government since 2022. At the meeting, Prof Oleg Kvlividze, CEO of the GeRaD, analyzed the main events that took place in the field of rare diseases in the country in 2021 and outlined strategic activity directions for 2022.
