There are approximately 7,000 rare diseases, usually with a genetic basis, often affecting patients early in childhood, and are frequently progressive, disabling and life threatening in nature with psychological impact on families of children suffering from these diseases and with huge societal impact.
Nowadays patients, families and physicians have still limited awareness about rare disorders and the diagnosis is delayed and often with severe consequences for patients.
We try to support the efforts of the clinical community helping to raise awareness of rare diseases, including the diagnosis challenges, for different specialists involved in pediatric medicine.
