Description

On February 28, 2021, at 13:00 EET in front of the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, Bulgaria, patients with rare diseases will symbolically paint their hands in different colors, which will represent their difference and struggle. From 18:30 to 23:00 EET the facade of the National Palace of Culture will be lit in blue, purple, pink and green - the main colors of rare.

"We believe that by illuminating the National Palace of Culture, a building of high public importance and cultural value for our country, we will attract people's attention to the rare diseases in Bulgaria, in this way becoming more recognizable and therefore people suffering from them - more visible to society," commented Victor Paskalev, Deputy Chairman of the National Patients’ Organization.

“The world of people with rare diseases remains invisible to the general society. If we get to know them and hear their stories, and if we learn more about their disease, which makes them different, we will actually realize how strong and determine they are. We will understand that they have a place among us on the labor market" added Natalia Maeva, a member of the NGO Board and president of the Bulgarian Society of the patients with pulmonary hypertation.
