The day will be marked with a series of initiatives in the big cities:

1. On  February  12 and February  13, at the Mermaid Hotel in Plovdiv, there will be a seminar on the topic “ Psychological methods – a manner of self-help for improving the quality of life of people with rare diseases and their families”. Lectors will be the famous psychotherapist Madlen Algafari and the psychologist Elenko Angelov. The participants would have the opportunity to receive valuable advice, to dive into the concept of positive thinking and how to use it best for their own advantage.

2. Training of General Practitioners – NAPRD will start a series of training seminars on the topic of rare diseases, directed at the family doctors. Lectors will be leading experts on rare diseases at national and international level. The first seminars are will be held the weekend prior to February 28. The venues are the university hospitals in Sofia, Plovdiv, Varna, Stara Zagora, Pleven.

 

3. The focus of the events this year will be placed in Pleven: In support of the patients with rare diseases, the students from the Music School in the city will present a performance-musical. And on February 27, a free charity rock concert will be held, featuring leading Bulgarian performers.

4. On the day itself – February 28, in various cities (Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Varna, Pleven, Velingrad, Burgas and others) there will be distribution of informational materials and brochures, prepared by representatives of the particular diseases.
