Friend of Rare Disease Day 2011

"Walk a Mile in My Shoes" Awareness Campaign

Description of the activity: "Walk a Mile in My Shoes" is an international campaign in support of International Epidermolysis Bullosa Awareness Week (the last week of October each year). In addition to founding WAM, I am Director of Awareness & Education for DEBRA Canada, a volunteer for both American EB nonprofit charities, and on the Executive Committee of DEBRA International. I am also co-host of the first international EB fundraiser, "Tomorrow Think of Me" (www.tomorrowthinkofme.org), taking place in Toronto, Rome and New York City. WAM will post the RDD logo with a link to RDD's website, and promote the February 28th date to the international media by publishing press releases from Canadian and American press release distribution sites. WAM can supply you with its logo to show support as a partner. WAM and IEBAW are endorsed by rare disease organizations including DEBRA International. I have also been asked to work with our COO of DEBRA International, John Dart, so that DI can fully support Rare Disease Day this year, having supported this date in February 2009 in Canada.
