Rare Disease Day in Romania
The Rare Disease Day campaign began in Romania in 2008. Each year, patient organisations organise marches, conferences and the distribution of flyers to promote and raise awareness about rare diseases across the country. In 2015, an event called "A Living Library" set up for rare disease patients to share their stories in front of jouralists in the medical field. Additionally, a short film about rare diseases was shown as a preview at a local cinema and in the cinema's waiting area.
The Romanian National Alliance (RONARD) was created in 2007, acting as an umbrella organisation for 32 alliances. They can be contacted directly to help you find a patient organisation locally which may have more information about a specific rare disease or disorder. Find their contact information at the bottom of this page.
