Rare Disease Day in New Zealand
New Zealand’s participation in Rare Disease Day goes back to 2010. Since then, patient associations from New Zealand have used the occasion to educate the public and raise money through fundraising events. In 2015, movie nights were held on Rare Disease Day in Auckland and Wellington. The money raised went to support the New Zealand Organisation for Rare Diseases.
The New Zealand Organisation for Rare Diseases, NZORD, is the New Zealand National Alliance representing the views and concerns of those living with a rare disease in New Zealand. They can be contacted directly to help you find a patient organisation locally which may have more information about a specific rare disease or disorder. Find their contact information at the bottom of this page.
