Rare Disease Day in Malaysia
Malaysia's patient organisations first joined Rare Disease Day in 2010. Over the years, they have organised a variety of events, from exhibits to information sessions focused on rare diseases. In 2015, volunteers visited the paediatric ward of the University Malaya Medical Centre for a day of celebration. There was a dance competition followed by balloon animals and goodie bags.
The Malaysian National Alliance, the Malaysian Rare Disorders Society (MRDS), has acted as an umbrella patient organisation since its creation in 2004. It can be contacted directly to help you find a patient organisation locally which may have more information about a specific rare disease or disorder. Find the alliance's contact information on the bottom of this page.
