Rare Disease Day in Hungary
Patient organisations in Hungary have engaged in Rare Disease Day since its launch in 2008. Various events have aimed to use the day for advocacy purposes as well as for raising awareness amongst the general public. Events have included workshops, letter-writing campaigns, art contests and consultations with government officials to discuss rare diseases policies. The First Lady of Hungary and a Hungarian actress personally involved themselves in past campaigns, helping to attract mass media attention.
In 2016, there was an art exhibition, a press conferene to inform the media about Rare Disease Day, and a family day for rare disease patients which included music, arts and crafts, and face painting.
