Rare Disease Day in Greece
Greece has participated in Rare Disease Day since the very beginning, in 2008. Every year since, patient organisations in Greece have dedicated the day to raise awareness through special events, scientific presentations and media collaboration. The highlight of the 2016 event schedule was when patients organisations, schools, pharmaceutical companies came together to create over 7000 bracelets for 7000 rare diseases to give out in the centre of Athens to raise awareness.
The Greek Alliance for Rare Diseases (PESPA) was established in 2003 and aims to be a strong institution to illuminate the challenges faced by people with a rare disease as well as their families and carers. They can be contacted directly to help you find a patient organisation locally which may have more information about a specific rare disease or disorder. Find their contact information at the bottom of this page.
