Rare Disease Day in Georgia
Georgia first became involved with Rare Disease Day in 2010. Over the years, rare disease conferences have been planned to coincide with the day, and the former First Lady of Georgia, Sandra Elisabeth Roelofs, has been extremely active in her support for the campaign.
In 2016, Tiblisi was home to Georgia’s annual press conference where policy makers, medical professionals and patients are invited to hear the current situation of the rare disease sector regarding successes and areas that need addressing.
Georgia has a National Alliance which was formed in collaboration with Rare Disease Day 2010, the Georgian Foundation for Genetic and Rare Diseases (GeRaD). They can be contacted directly to help you find a patient organisation locally which may have more information about a specific rare disease or disorder. Find their contact information on the bottom of this page.
