Rare Disease Day in Costa Rica
Patient organisations in Costa Rica joined Rare Disease Day in 2012. Although raising awareness of rare diseases is key to the event, the main focus is on making Rare Disease Day a fun and memorable event for children living with a rare disease. It also enables their families to get together and share experiences and information. A media campaign throughout the country during the last week of February puts rare diseases in the public eye. In past years, the Asociacion Costarricense para el Tamizaje y la Prevencion de Discapacidades en el Nino ([email protected]) has led Rare Disease Day activities in the country.
