Rare Disease Day in Bulgaria
Patient organisations in Bulgaria have participated in Rare Disease Day since the first celebration in 2008. The day was endorsed by Bulgarian First Lady, Zorka Parvanova, who lent her support publically to the cause. In 2016, in Sofia the National Patients’ Organisation held an informative event calling for improved access to specialised care and the implementation of screening. Attendees were also invited to raise and join hands as a symbol of solidarity.
The Bulgarian National Alliance for People with Rare Diseases, NAPRD, was founded in 2007 and incorporates 49 rare disease organisations. It acts as an umbrella patient organisation, representing and advocating for a group of rare-disease patient organisations in Bulgaria. They can be contacted directly to help you find a patient organisation locally which may have more information about a specific rare disease or disorder. Find their contact information on the bottom of this page.
There is also a Help Line available in Bulgaria, which receives calls for all rare diseases. You can call with any questions concerning rare diseases +359 32 57 57 97
