Song of Rare Disease Families
HKMPS Welcomes All to Play
at the First-ever “Song of Rare Disease Families”
The “International Rare Disease Day” will fall on 28 February this year, to raise awareness on rare diseases in major cities and countries around the world.
Hong Kong Mucopolysaccharidoses and Rare Genetic Diseases Mutual Aid Group (HKMPS), a registered charity, will bring the “International Rare Disease Day” to Hong Kong for the first time by hosting “Song of Rare Disease Families”, a fundraising event that will be held on 27 and 28 February 2010 (Saturday and Sunday).
All members of the general public and the media are welcome to join this event, which aims to enhance community caring, raise funds for the charity group, as well as to let more people know more about patients and families living with rare genetic diseases in Hong Kong.
This event will see the launch of our new book, “Rare Parents”, which features stories of 11 parents in Hong Kong, whose children are born with rare genetic diseases.
Also, grown-ups and kids can play their favorite melody on Hong Kong's largest walk-on piano keyboard, which is designed and developed by university student and “Son of Star” Chan Yik-Hei. A smaller model of the keyboard, also designed by Chan Yik-Hei, will be available for the public to practise before playing on the big one.
