Rare Disorders Denmark will be hosting game nights in connection with The Rare Disease Day 2010. The participants are going to play the game called POLKA. In the game the participants will be forced to take a stand on many ethical aspects regarding e.g. stem cells and treatment of rare diseases. On the 26th of February 2010 representatives from the pharmaceutical industry and representatives from the member societies of Rare Disorders Denmark will meet and play the debate game.

Conference about genetics

Rare Disorders Denmark host a conference about genetics in connection with The Rare Disease Day 2010. The conference will take it's starting point in the ethical and biology-technological aspects of selection and deselection of having children.  At the conference a numeous number of experts will address the audience. Dr. med., professor Thomas G. Jensen will discuss how diseases are inherited and talk about the opportunities for instruments to stem cells. Chief physician, clinical lecturer, medical specialist in clinical genetics, cand. med. Peter K. A. Jensen will discuss genetic counselling. Other than that managing director and member of The Danish Council of Ethics Lene Jensen will discuss the ethical aspects. POLKA game with politicians

Members of the Executive Committee of Rare Disorders Denmark meet four danish politicians from parliament to play the POLKA game. The politicians represent three different parties. The politicians, who are all concerned with health, will be challenged in a game about neonatal screening and are forced to take a stand on questions like: How much should we screen for, what should we screen for and who should decide? During the game the participants will be able to exchange stances, values and experiences.
